How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is essential to benefitting from your experience in therapy. It has to be a good fit. I am happy to offer a 10-minute, complimentary phone consultation prior to scheduling an appointment to answer any questions that you may have.

How long is a typical session?

Sessions are 45-50 minutes in length.

How often should I attend therapy?

This depends entirely on you and what you think feels right. Most clients are seen once a week in the beginning and then, as time goes on, less frequently. You’re in charge and I will trust you to tell me what you need.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. However, I do regularly work with clients to determine whether medication may be beneficial. If you decide that you want to seek medication assistance, I’m happy to offer a referral to a psychiatrist or primary care physician.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield. I accept traditional BCBS PPO insurance, as well as the BCBS "Blue Choice Preferred" PPO policies. I do not accept BCBS HMO insurance.

If you have an alternate insurance type, you are welcome to self-pay and I am happy to provide a receipt for reimbursement to your insurance company.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

If you plan to use your health insurance, please bring your insurance card to your first appointment. Ahead of our meeting, I will send you some intake paperwork. You can bring that in when we meet or email it back to me ahead of time. I will have a bit more paperwork for you to fill out when you arrive.

How do I get to your office?
I am located at 114 Kedzie St-one block sounth of Main street, between Michigan and Sheridan. The entrance to my office is through the back entrance. Park on the street (pay attention to parking signs) and walk down the ally to the back gate. Enter the back door and come directly down the stairs to the waiting room.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Sometimes canceling or rescheduling an appointment is necessary, and I am happy to work with you to reschedule our appointment to best fit your needs. Please note that due to a limited number of sessions available per week, cancellations must be made no less than 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made outside of this time frame will incur an out-of-pocket fee of $145.
